Dr. Madelon Finkel, Foundation Board member as well as Director Office of Global Health Education and Professor of Healthcare Policy and Research at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC), hosted the annual Reception for Global Health Fellows on Thursday, May 12 at the College. CMC’s founder Dr. Ida S. Scudder was in the first graduating class at the Medical College in 1899; it is an honor that the Scudder family funds the Ida S. Scudder 1899 Fellowship annually for a WCMC medical student to spent 4 weeks in Vellore.
Justin Haseltine (pictured above with Dr. Finkel), was this year’s Scudder Fellow at WCMC. Justin is embarking on a Residency in Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, and spent his elective working in oncology at CMC.
Dr. Finkel visits CMC to pursue her research on early detection & treatment of Cervical Cancer in Indian Women. Her project screens for the disease and treats women who test positive. It also trains physicians working in rural areas to use an effective and inexpensive alternative to the PAP test to help reduce the high incidence of Cervical Cancer in the Country.
