Scudder Association Foundation 2023 Annual Reunion

October 6 – 8, 2023

The Scudder Association Foundation is delighted to announce our upcoming gathering in 2023, filled with exciting events, fascinating presentations, and opportunities to connect with fellow Scudder enthusiasts. We invite you to join us for a weekend of camaraderie, entertainment, and education as we come together to celebrate our shared heritage and passion for the Scudder mission.

To kick off the weekend, we will be hosting a welcome dinner buffet at the renowned Griswold Inn in Essex, Connecticut, on Friday evening from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

The Griswold Inn, established in 1776, is one of the oldest continuously operating.
inns in America, and it offers the perfect setting for our members to mingle.
and reconnect over a delightful meal.

Saturday

We have arranged a variety of exciting daytime activities for our members to choose from.

 TOURIST ACTIVITIES IN AND AROUND ESSEX (Activities Information)

(There will be a board member escorting each event. For those going on an event,
please assemble at the Essex Corinthian Yacht Club no later than 10am on Saturday.)

CONNECTICUT RIVER MUSEUM & BOAT RIDES

Experience the thrill of sailing aboard a beautiful antique ship and take in the breathtaking views of the Connecticut shoreline on the Onrust sailing ship a re-creation of the vessel Adriaen Block built in 1614.

Join a Narrated Cruise aboard the RiverQuest

A 64-foot eco-tour boat (motor vessel) with both indoor and outdoor spaces

When the seasons change on the CT River, Fall becomes very colorful!  While cruising the river we will take in Mother Nature’s beauty from a unique vantage on the water.  We will see resident and migrating wildlife, historical sights and gorgeous views

ESSEX STEAM TRAIN AND RIVERBOAT

Enjoy a leisurely Paddle Wheel excursion along the picturesque Connecticut River, offering a relaxing and scenic adventure as part of the Train and Riverboat excursion.

Step back in time with a ride on a vintage steam train, traveling through the charming New England countryside.

No matter which option you choose, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience and create lasting memories with fellow Scudder enthusiasts.

Membership and Board Meetings at the Essex Corinthian Yacht Club

 Following the day’s activities, we will reconvene at the Essex Corinthian Yacht Club for our Membership Meeting at 4 pm in the main dining room. This meeting will provide an opportunity for members to learn about the latest Scudder Association Foundation initiatives and share their thoughts and ideas.

 The evening will continue with a cocktail hour from 6 pm to 7 pm, providing a relaxed atmosphere for members to socialize and unwind. Dinner will be served at 7 pm, accompanied by captivating presentations from esteemed guests Dr. Sam Raj and his wife, Dr. Pamela Raj, from Scudder Memorial Hospital in Ranipet and John Riehl President and Chief Executive Officer of the Vellore Christian Medical College Foundation in New York. These presentations promise to offer valuable insights and thought-provoking discussions, further promoting our mission and fostering a sense of community among our members.

Brunch at the President’s Historic 1760 Home

To conclude our gathering, we invite you to join us for a special brunch on Sunday morning 11:00am – 1:00 pm at the historic 1760 residence of our President in nearby Killingworth, Connecticut. This charming, colonial-era home provides the perfect backdrop for a leisurely and enjoyable brunch, where we can reflect on the weekend’s events and share our experiences with fellow Scudder enthusiasts.
