The Scudder Family Honored as CMC Celebrates 100 Years of Medical Education
CMC Oration Committee, has invited former Scudder Association President, Rob Fish, to deliver the 8th Annual Dr. Ida S. Scudder Humanitarian Oration, August 9th, 2018 at the CMC Campus in Vellore.
The invitation letter went on to say,
“In this, the centenary year for medical education at CMC, the Oration Committee of
the Vellore CMC Foundation decided to honor the Scudder family, in particular those who gave of themselves to CMC, including Drs. Ida S. and Ida. B Scudder.
As one of the closest living relatives of Ida S. Scudder and one who has also given of yourself to serve CMC through your generous funding of dental clinics and the Low Cost Effective Care Unit, it is our privilege to honor you as the 8th Ida S. Scudder Orator.”
Just as CMC considers it a privilege to honor Rob, the Scudder Association is also fortunate to have a member who continues the tradition of caring and giving set by his Aunts Ida S. and Ida B.
Congratulations Rob!
In 2004, the out-patient facility was shifted to the Schell campus and the ward was renovated and expanded, with funding from many people. A major donor was Dr Robert Fish, who is Dr Ida Sophia Scudder’s grand-nephew and Dr Ida Belle Scudder’s nephew. His parents supported Ida B and her mission work in India and so the work of LCECU became close to his heart. The 2 wards were named after Robert’s parents – Charles and Lillian Scudder Fish ward; and aunt – Ida Belle Scudder ward. In 2005, a labour-room was also established in LCECU.
