Foundation Board Member and First Vice President Dr. James Taylor was on hand in Vellore in mid-January for some big developments at Christian Medical College. A Letter from India
Walter Scudder IV, a student at Eastern Connecticut University and a Scudder Association Foundation scholarship winner, returned home in mid-January from a memorable trip to Scudder-supported facilities in India. Two Scudders Who Dearly Need To Be REMEMBERED
Nathaniel Scudder was a physician and patriot leader during the Revolutionary War. He served as a delegate from New Jersey to the Continental Congress, He wrote a series of impassioned letters to New Jersey leaders urging the adoption of the Articles, and when New Jersey’s legislature approved them in November 1777, he signed them for the state at Congress. Scudder dropped his medical practice to serve in the military, and he led a regiment in the Battle of Monmouth in June 1778.
Amos and Jedediah Scudder and the Miracle of The Battle of Trenton
The American army was in precarious condition in Pennsylvania, just across the Delaware River from New Jersey. Its numbers were estimated to have dwindled from 30,000 in the summer to 3,000. Washington’s soldiers were not well furnished, having had to leave supplies as they fled New York.
