The Scudder Association Foundation is happy to invite you to attend this virtual lecture series entitled
“How Empowered Women are Transforming Societies”
a live webinar by Ms. Neidomuo Angami hosted by the Vellore CMC Foundation.
Thursday, March 28th at 10:00 AM EDT
The Vellore Christian Medical College Foundation presents “How Empowered Women are Transforming Societies” as we celebrate Women’s History Month which honors women’s contributions to fostering sustainable communities through social change. We invite you to join us on Thursday, March 28th at 10 am EDT as Ms. Neidonuo Angami, our Guest Presenter, shares her journey and her commitment to combating drug abuse and alcoholism, while promoting peace initiatives through women’s tribal organizations in Nagaland, India.
As a Social Worker and co-founder of the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), Ms. Angami earned the title ‘Mother of Peace’ for her role as NMA’s General Secretary from 1984 to 1994. The NMA’s ‘Shed No More Blood’ campaign remains a cornerstone of their peace-building efforts. Ms. Angami’s remarkable contributions were recognized with the Padma Shree Award in 2000 by the Government of India and a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.
Like our Dr. Ida Sopia Scudder, founder of the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Vellore, India, Ms. Angami continues to drive positive changes benefiting Indian communities. In 2013, the Naga Mothers’ Association received the “Times of India Social Impact Award” for its outstanding work. In 2022, Ms. Angami was honored with the A Kevichusa Citizenship Award for her efforts in combating substance abuse, breaking HIV stigma, and promoting community welfare. In response to all her accolades, Ms. Angami’s response is, “It is all God’s grace to be recognized.”
